What is Effective Rim Diameter?
Simply, it’s the measurement that you need to calculate spoke length when building a bicycle wheel. It’s is measured from the point in the rim where the threaded end sits. It’s really important to get it right.
One of the easiest and cheapest ways to measure ERD is to use ‘ERD sticks’ – a pair of tools that are (almost) free to build and will help you to get your ERD nailed.
